Who or what is “Missi Moonshine”?

 

“Missi Moonshine” is the online handle I have used for about 17 years, and while I wasn’t thinking about personal branding when I came up with that name many moons ago, I feel like it has really stuck to me. I have an affinity for the moon, stars, and all things celestial. The moon holds a special place in my heart as my first spoken word, and the night sky is tied to many memories of stargazing with my father. All of my creative accounts are used under this handle, and if anything, has been consistent through all these years.

    Photographer, Graphic Designer, Illustrator, Film/Video Editor …I can do so many things! And that doesn’t even include my artistic hobbies. I’ve been doing art stuff for almost as long as I can remember.

    I’m not afraid to be my most authentic self. Bright hair colors, a witchy wardrobe, and intense makeup is my norm.

    When my free time allows it, I love to cosplay! From sewing, prop making, crafting, wig styling and costume makeup, to showing off at cons, this is one of my favorite hobbies!

    I love to travel when and where I can. Experiencing what the world has to offer and all of its beauty is a source of never-ending inspiration!

  • Cat Mom

    I have two cats, Oliver and Poogie (not pictured). They help keep me grounded and sane, and provide the best cuddles when I’m feeling down.

    When I’m not shooting for my local burlesque troupe, working on costumes, or dancing with a hula hoop, I can be found caring for my steadily growing collection of indoor plants, baking tasty treats, trying out a new art hobby, cuddled up next to my cats, or playing video games.

    I grew up in a small Iowa town with three siblings and many different cats through the years. I’ve always been the artist in the family, bringing my sketchbook wherever I went.
